New Front Garden Please!
This project was a corner garden plot of medium size. The original garden was well past its' sell by date and didn't suit the house or the young owners style. A tired old concrete drive and weed infested lawns simply had to go. As did the somewhat neglected and overgrown borders.
A more modern and very low maintenance garden was the request. There needed to be room for two cars and a gravel driveway was requested due to budget and security. There was also a problem with larger vehicles cutting across the corner of the garden. So we decided to lay small lawns edged with Reclaimed Cheshire Brick, to match the construction of the house. This also helps mowing as you can go right up to the edge easily. Planting was kept to an absolute minimum, the main feature being a Lollipop Conifer.
The large stones are set in concrete, and have stopped the traffic crossing the lawn completely! We also installed a new front step of Marshalls Stone.
The gravel has been laid to a sub-base and has been compacted. This is to ensure good drainage and minimise migration of the gravel. Don't ever ever ever "throw some gravel" on to a driveway, it will all end up all over the road looking untidy.
